I am Vera Smets, CEO of Finance is Fun

Glad you found your way to the numbers!

My mission since 1995? To bridge the gap between finance and non-finance professionals. I want to help you better understand and use your business finances. I do this with a heavy dose of schwung. Because finance IS fun, I promise!

About me

What exactly do you do, Vera?

You’ll find me most often in my incompany trainings for companies like Telenet, BASF, Randstad, Worldline, Duvel, SD Worx,… Because a manager who understands the business figures in depth makes profitable decisions and stays away from financial fiascos.

I am also only too happy to help SMEs! My VIP training in Dutch is right up their alley. It’s a unique blend of video lessons that you follow at your own pace, interactive group practice sessions and 1-on-1 sessions with me in which I answer all your burning financial questions.

Dipping a toe in the water first before jumping in the deep end? Perfect: I invite you to my free webinar ‘Finance for Beginners‘ (in Dutch). In 45 minutes, you’ll learn the basics of the financial alphabet … and realize that it’s actually kind of cool, now that you understand it. Because that’s my passion: explaining financial numbers in the language of Jip

3 fun facts about me

Fun Fact #1

I became an entrepreneur in 1995. From day 1, my business philosophy has been the same: I want to be a small and profitable company.

A misconception common to many entrepreneurs: a small company makes small money, a big company makes big money.

Not true! Even small entrepreneurs can do great things and be very successful.

Fun Fact #2

In addition to Finance is fun, I volunteer. Appel&Ei is a social grocery store with which we support the less fortunate in my home municipality of Schoten.

And through 4planet.be, I – quite literally – plant the seeds of small-scale projects that aim to halt global warming.

Fun Fact #3

Balance is my mantra. My common thread in life and one of the most important concepts in my financial training. But my life is not just about financial balance.

I have a fine balance between work and non-work. For example, I take time every day to go for an hour’s walk in nature. Love it!
